After a lengthy battle with depression, Tika Simone has birthed a project that is heaven sent. Her angelic vocals layered over top jazzy cords leaves her listeners feeling full. The four track EP Carry On is a listening experience for the mind, body and soul.
The Toronto native told Noisey, “People continue to underestimate the power of music. It is a form of therapy that we need to be mindful about absorbing when we’re going through depression. If you’re sad and you listen to sad shit, you might continue to be sad. I made it a point to ingest beauty, love, spirituality and peace meditative songs while I was healing. I wanted to create this body of work to encourage people to heal again and eventually ‘Carry On’.”
