Travis Scott spreads a generational message in his new short theatrical film Birds in the Trap, a Fleur Fortune directed video adage to his 2016 album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight.
Adopting the crumbling archaism of Detroit, Michigan for it’s backdrop, Scott narrates a story that is all too common to today’s youth. He begins, “sweet sweet” with an aloofness for life. While his leading lady, model Christiane Staten, reminds him that his lack of self-awareness and thoughtlessness will one day cost him. Concluding the film, “the ends” is mechanized with individuals stuck in the familiar dark cloud. A rueing montage of Scott’s actions throughout the short lead him to a fork in the road.
