Hosted by founders Richard Lawson and Tina Knowles-Lawson, the inaugural Wearable Art Gala brought together some of our most bright and beautiful celebs for such an amazing cause. Gathering at California’s African-American Museum in Los Angeles, the two among many enjoyed  a night full of art, music, dance and Mrs. Tina’s homemade Gumbo in celebration of the Lawson’s new nonprofit The WACO (Where Art Can Occur) Theater & Performing Arts Center.

The WACO Theater Center will allow children to express themselves while fostering all of their artistic talents through it’s various mentorship initiatives. “We did all these projects together, and there were centers and places like the one we’re creating, where they could go and do arts and crafts, and sing and dance, and do all the performing arts. I think all of those things have made them who they are today. If you can give kids that experience where they can be with other kids and be creative, you might be sitting on the next Beyoncé or Nina Simone or Barbra Streisand,” shared Knowles-Lawson on the importance of giving kids a safe place to create and to grow.

Giving us all the mother nature feels, Mrs. Tina was clad in a leaf green gown designed by both her and Timothy White. Attendees included Debbie Allen, Representative Maxine Waters, Mara Brock Akil, Yara ShahidiOctavia Spencer, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, of course our boss lady Solange, Beyoncé and many more. Having raised close to $1 million, the Wearable Art Gala was definitely a success. Stars arrived ornately draped in out-of-this-world designs. Get into a few of our favorites looks from Saturday evening below and stay tuned for info on the WACO Theater Center.
