“The Space Program” Video is A Tribe Called Quest’s Official Farewell

It’s bittersweet to share the latest from A Tribe Called Quest. Their brand new visual for “The Space Program” from 2016’s We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service arrives to give us more of this legendary Hip Hop group, but sadly for the last time. Fortunately for us, “The Space Program” isn’t an ordinary music video. The eight-minute, Warren Fu-directed short film offers a sobering look at what reality is and has been with scenes of familiar happenings like riots, police brutality, racists protests and some poignant “I Can’t Breathe” screen time. It simultaneously glimpses at a dystopian future where the systematic removal of Black people has evolved to fit the technologically advanced times. But Q-Tip, Jarobi and Ali, seemingly held captive aboard a spacecraft of sorts, find the presence of fallen goup mate and brother Phife Dawg in a green, glowy vessel as Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, Black Thought, Questlove, Vince Staples, Anderson .Paak, Pharrell, Talib Kweli, Kelly Rowland and more appear for cameos.

The visual arrives as a companion to Tribe’s collaboration with Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club. The guys also have a sneaker collection with Vans on the way. Watch a Tribe Called Quest’s “The Space Program” via Apple Music.
