Sonequa Martin-Green of The Walking Dead is The First Black Woman In A ‘Star Trek’ Series


Sonequa Martin-Green of The Walking Dead is adding to the history of Black women worldwide with her new role. She will go down in history as the first black woman with a leading role in a Star Trek series. Martin-Green will play the role of lieutenant commander in the legendary sci-fi space exploration show. Her character’s name has not yet become public information but we imagine this will soon be revealed. For those who are fans of The Walking Dead, don’t worry. Sonequa will continue to play Sasha Williams while she takes on the new role as lieutenant commander in the new series which will air on CBS.
