Solange to Receive Billboard Women in Music’s Inaugural American Express Impact Award

Billboard and American Express have partnered to honor musicians who “noticeably use their voice to empower and develop new leaders of tomorrow through their platform and philanthropic efforts to inspire social change.” We’re pleased to announce that our leading lady Solange will be presented with the first ever American Express Impact Award during Billboard’s Women in Music ceremony taking place tomorrow, November 30th in Los Angeles.

The illustrious event is held annually and celebrates puissant female artists and executives in the music industry (last year’s honoree was Bozoma Saint John and former First Lady Michelle Obama was celebrated as well). Tomorrow, Solange will receive the American Express Impact Award for her activism as a performance artist and for empowering and affirming so many lives with her 2016 LP A Seat at the Table. “…Solange has invoked themes of identity, empowerment, grief and healing that have resonated with millions of voices that routinely feel silenced or overlooked. Furthermore, her performance art shows at the Guggenheim Museum, the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, as well as her art installation at London’s Tate Modern museum have all led to a defining year of visual art and activism.

You can catch the Women in Music Red Carpet event when it live streams via Twitter at 6 PM (PST) on Thursday, November 30th. Congratulations, Solange!
