Solange Pens Powerful Letter to To Her Teenage Self For Teen Vogue’s Volume II: MUSIC ISSUE

For years our fearless leader Solange has exhibited what it means to be both true to herself and her artistry. Respecting the process and earning every bit of recognition she has always deserved, our girl is soaring right now and of course, we could not be more proud. Taking time to reflect, Solo recently caught up with Teen Vogue as their Volume II: Music Issue cover star to write a open letter to her teenage-self.

In the letter, Solo offers amazing advice that we all probably needed to hear as teens while encouraging her younger self to recognize the importance of “words” and so much more. “Words only have power if you choose to give them power. every once in a while they will hurt, but you will choose to turn those words into a symbol of beauty,” she shares on embracing unkind comments and making the choice to use expression through language in her favor as an artist.

“There will be pain, there will be doubt there will be beauty, there will be the unknown. There will be so many moments of joy and delight that the whole universe will feel painted in hues of amber and wonder. There will be times you are so sad you can’t lift your head. And there will be times you are so happy that the sensation of life knocks you down. But most importantly, there will be you. A whole, whole lot of it. And you will feel good about who she is and who she is still becoming,” she so eloquently and powerfully concludes the letter. Check out the article in full here.
