The lovely Phoebe Collings-James and Jesse Darling are bringing their latest series to the Company Gallery in NYC. The exhibition is a sculpture series denominated “ATROPHILIA,” a term the pair have coined to mean, “[the libidinal] desire for collapse or stasis”.
In a press release for ATROPHILIA, we learned that both Phoebe and Jesse’s work “attempt to interrupt the cycles of signification normally assigned to objects and in this way give voice to what Fred Moten calls ‘the eloquence of things’,” including assumed gender roles and “the theological ecosystem of capitalist modernity”.
The Company Gallery is open to the public Wednesday – Sunday from 12pm – 6pm. ATROPHILIA will run from October 28th – December 4th with an opening reception on October 28th from 6pm – 8pm. For more information, click here.
