We continue to fall deeper in love with Octavia Spencer. Not only is she a brilliant actress and author, but she is also quite hilarious. Spencer hosted Saturday’s SNL by opening the show with a monologue that poked fun at this awards season’s reoccurring error where media announcers repeatedly called Hidden Figures by the wrong name. Instead, spectators were introduced to a new film called “Hidden Fences,” the hybrid offspring of two Black films, Hidden Figures and Fences. Though this error was equal parts irritating and ridiculous, Spencer found a way to circle back and laugh at it.
She also took the time to poke fun at her past roles stating, “I’ve played a nurse so many times, when I played a maid they gave me an Oscar.” Check out the hilarious monologue above.
