The 48th NAACP Image Awards Nominees Are In


The NAACP has announced the nominees for their 48th NAACP Image Awards and they didn’t disappoint. Congratulations to our very own Solange who was nominated for six awards including, Outstanding Female, Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration, Outstanding Music Video, Outstanding Song and A Seat at the Table was nominated for Outstanding Album. Beyonce also was nominated for six awards and Lemonade made it’s way under the Outstanding Variety and Outstanding Album categories. Both Chance the Rapper and Chloe x Halle were nominated for Outstanding New Artist. Chance was also nominated for Outstanding Male Artist along with Kendrick Lamar, and Entertainer of the Year alongside Beyonce. Coloring Book snagged a spot under the Outstanding Album category as well.

Donald Glover racked up nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series while Insecure, Black-ish and Atlanta were nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. Issa Rae is a contender in the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series category with co-star Yvonne Orji right behind her earning a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Another two well-deserved nominations went to Moonlight for Outstanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Independent Motion Picture. Melina Matsoukas, Idris Elba, Taraji P. Henson, Viola Davis, “I See A Victory,” and Ava DuVernay‘s 13th also received nods.
