Mick Jenkins Releases Political Themed Visual for “Drowning”

Mick Jenkins released his second single, “Drowning,” off of his upcoming debut album The Healing Component. Enlisting the help of BADBADNOTGOOD for the sullen track, the video features Jenkins as a run away slave who nearly drowns in a river during his escape. The ending finds the roles reversed in a victorious outcome. Saturated in impressionistic imagery like the American flag noose and the familiar phrase “I can’t breathe,” “Drowning” displays a powerful theme rampant in present day America.

Check out the visual above, and stay tuned for his 12-city North America tour, “A Quest For Love,” which you can get more information about here. The Healing Component drops on on September 23rd.
