Kerry Washington will play a major role in bringing the debut novel The Mothers by Brit Bennett to the big screen, proving that there are clearly no limits to what she can do. Somehow, she effortlessly pulls off being a mother, wife and a phenomenal actress simultaneously.

The novel explores the life of a young girl by the name of Nadia living in a black community in California. She begins dating the son of a small town preacher by the name of Luke before going through a slew of life and love changes.

The New York Times Bestseller examines religion, judgement, masculinity and the taboo conversation that surrounds women’s rights. Washington will co-produce the adaptation alongside Natalie Krinsky while Bennett, the book’s author, will pen the movie’s script. Stay tuned for more.
