Kelela Shares Two New ‘Take Me Apart’ Tracks + Vinyl

R&B singer Kelela has released another new single titled “Waitin” just days ahead of the release of her debut album, Take Me Apart, which is set to drop this Friday, October 6th. The Ariel Rechtshaid, Jam City and kwes-produced track builds anticipation for the release of this project with heart-breaking lyrics co-written by Mocky. With her spiraling vocals over the bouncing beat, she sings, “despite what you took, I miss what you gave” when reminiscing about her past love. A ’90s R&B feel stampedes the track about meeting with an ex beau she has unfinished business with. Despite disapproving looks from her friends, Kelela moves forward with the conversation she’s been wanting with her ex-lover. “Been waiting for today / But I don’t know what to say,” she sings.

“Blue Light,” the project’s fourth single, also landed today. In the synthy, sensual number she’s completely tangled in her lover’s web. Take a listen to both tracks below and preorder Take Me Apart‘s deluxe version in vinyl format.
