Jhené Aiko Shares Moving Visual for “While We’re Young”

Ethereal songbird Jhené Aiko returns with a new ballad just in time for summer lovin’ titled “While We’re Young.” Cooing sweet nothings that promise the ultimate lover’s journey, the Los Angeles native proudly declares hopeless devotion to the youthful freedom of romance. Though it’s the first official, solo single since Jhené’s sexually liberating “Maniac,” the dreamy lover’s ode walks the line of Soundcloud loosie “New Balance.” She sings, “Baby while we’re young/ I think we should do something crazy like say ‘Fuck everyone’/ And just run away from the daily routine/ Yeah you know what I mean.

There are no limits to the Aiko’s ability to tunefully move us with her artistry and that’s apparent in the fact that “While We’re Young” is a song that’ll have you reconsidering whether cuffing season ever really has to end. Equally as moving as the song’s lyrics, the Jay Ahn-directed visual, inspired by 2004 romcom 50 First Dates, finds Jhené on the receiving end of partnership’s loyalty when her love interest’s desperate and unceasing attempts to help her recover from short-term memory loss are played out over the course of many “first” encounters. Beautifully emotional footage comes together so that you can’t help but see how meeting your lover for the first time again everyday is inspiring. Did Jhené just give us the metaphoric recipe to long-lasting love?
