DJ Kyle Woods’ “GARDEN” Mix is a Balm for Creative Blocks

Kyle Woods GARDEN

DJ Kyle Woods makes his 2018 debut with a muse of a mix titled “GARDEN.” At 1 hour and 21 minutes, the mix was curated to do more than move your body, it motivates your (right) brain. Like doctors offer medical healing with medicine, the Los Angeles-hailing DJ has healing for your creative congestion with music.

This project is inspired by a card taken from Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt’s Oblique Strategies that reads ‘Gardening, Not Architecture.’ The Oblique Strategies were created with the intent to help artists overcome creative roadblocks,” Woods explained. He continued, “I want GARDEN’s theme to be creative empowerment. While exploring the different sides of my music self – the film scoring, the DJing, and the original production, my main goal is to have people walk away feeling inspired to create. Song-wise, I wanted to focus on curating a mix that includes artists and songs people might not have on their radar, as well as songs that personally inspire me.

“GARDEN” features empowering verbal interjections like, “It’s confidence that fuels you to be the first someone and not the next something,” as well as tracks from Little Simz, KONA, Nick Hakim, Tiffany Gouché, Alex Isley and more. So spend some time in Kyle’s “GARDEN” to dispel creative blocks or to simply soundtrack your workday. Trust him, he’s a DJ (and we’re proud to call him Saint Heron’s Resident DJ). Listen below.
