Dave Chappelle Inks Deal With Netflix For Three Comedy Specials

After enriching our lives last week on Saturday Night Live! with a comedic political rant, Dave Chappelle has inked a deal to work with Netflix on three independent comedy specials. The trio of specials will mark the standup comic’s first major TV project since he surprisingly and suddenly stepped away from his Comedy Central sketch series Chappelle’s Show in 2005, arguably at the peak of the show’s popularity. Though Chappelle frequents the public eye, he’s made a slow but steady return to mainstream entertainment. Through his accurate portrayal of reality and tendency for being apologetically Black, the comic always finds a way to shed light on a controversy. We look forward to seeing what the man with a plan has cooking up his sleeve.

Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential,” said Lisa Nishimura, Netflix VP of original documentary and comedy. “Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy.”
