D’Angelo’s ‘Brown Sugar’ Album Gets Reissue in Double Disc Format

In 1995 when D’Angelo‘s debut LP was originally released, I was way too young to understand how important the project was. Fast forward two decades and it’s not only a staple in my music library, but a timeless album that has had major influence in the artistry of some of today’s best musicians and singers. As one of Neo-Soul’s trailblazers, D’Angelo remains a favorite among R&B/Soul and Hip Hop fans, and there’s no sign of that ever changing. With that said, we were the first in line to preorder a copy of Brown Sugar‘s reissue slated for release on August 25th via Virgin/UMe. The now remastered version comes as a 2-disc deluxe edition CD (digital formats will be available as well) and features brand new bonus tracks as well as previously released remixes. In addition, the re-release of Brown Sugar includes a capella and instrumental tracks from the project, plus a new CD booklet including lyrics (for nostalgia’s sake), photos and an essay from film director/author/journalist Nelson George. You can preorder your copy now here.
