CRWN Magazine Promotes Self-Love in Issue No. 2, “The Love Issue”

There is always great value in having publications and institutions that celebrate Black people and our culture. However, it’s never more necessary than after events like the Grammys, which has historically snubbed some of the most iconic work from our favorite Black artists. Today’s release of CRWN Magazine’s second cover couldn’t come at a better time. Reminiscent of Kanye West storming the stage during the VMAs, CRWN Magazine’s upcoming issue, “The Love Issue,” reminds us that if anyone doesn’t have us, we got us.

CRWN debuted last fall with a bang featuring not only Black women and our natural hair, but to “showcas[e] a new standard of beauty — and document our story in tangible, print form,” shares Lindsey Day, CRWN’s Editor-in-Chief. Issue No.01 sold out in mere weeks after its Fall 2016 release and was described by the Huffington Post as the “Empowering New Natural Hair Magazine The World Needs.”

In the second issue, CRWN aims to delve deeper into self-love. Deun Ivory and Lauren Ash, founders of the emerging lifestyle brand Ivory + Ash, shine as the cover models and appropriately so. The duo’s goods feature beautiful and minimalist illustrations that are geared towards contemporary women of color. Day is a supporter of the brand and of the multidimensional women behind it. “Ivory + Ash [are] inspiring, educating and integrating positive affirmations into our everyday lives, and it’s our duty as a community to get behind them.

Saint Heron proudly supports Black entrepreneurs, like Lindsey Day and Ivory + Ash doing the damn thang. Shot by Brad Ogbonna, The Love Issue will be released this winter and can be pre-ordered on CRWN Magazine’s website today.
