Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins Render First August Greene Performance in Tiny Desk Concert

Common, Rob Glasper and Karriem Riggins are August Greene and in case you haven’t heard, their self-titled, debut album is slated for release on March 9th. The trio has already rendered the project’s first (and spectacular) live performance for a special NPR Tiny Desk Concert with surprise guests Brandy, Maimouna Youssef and Andra Day. Needless to say, it’s taking all of our restraint not to spam each of their socials with requests for a tour.

Performing previously released singles “Black Kennedy” and “Optimistic,” Common, Rob and Karriem also gave us a taste of what’s to come with the project’s full release by way of “Practice” and “Let Go.” Smooth and soulful but still vibrant, fun and even a bit comedic, August Greene’s Tiny Desk set is everything we love about when artists bring their own flava to NPR’s beloved series. Watch the thoughtful and uplifting “Foregrounding Women” performance above.
