Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Co-Star in Jay-Z’s “Family Feud” Visual Directed by Ava DuVernay

Jay-Z Family Feud

Jay-Z was unquestionably the king of visuals this year having released nine (so far) from the humbly sincere 4:44 LP. To finish 2017 (and to complete the list of outstanding 4:44 visuals) he’s sharing a cathedral-set video for “Family Feud” with the queen Beyoncé and their extraordinarily gorgeous first born Blue Ivy as his costars. But the diverse and  star-studded cast, which includes Niecy Nash, Janet Mock, Michael B. Jordan and so many others, steal the show in a realizably futuristic production written by Jay and the incredible Ava DuVernay. The elegiacal track features a rapturous, godly vocal sample that decorates Jay’s motivated bars while DuVernay’s direction turns the track into an eight-minute short film with scoring from Flying Lotus. Not ironically, the Brooklyn-born rapper and mogul finds himself in a confessional as his remorseful lyrics highlight success, wisdom and the reflective admission of treachery from perfidies past. Overall, it seems Hov acknowledges a higher power is responsible for all his blessings from wealth to family and love.
