Stars Gather To Pay Tribute To Prince At BET Awards

People can’t stop buzzing about last night’s BET Awards. As always, it was a star-studded affair featuring a rocking performance by Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar and a passionate, show-stealing acceptance speech from actor Jessie Williams. The night’s true star, however, was Prince. Much of the night was spent commemorating the life and work of the legendary artist who left us just two months ago. Here are all the performances in case you missed them.

Erykah Badu and The Roots kicked the night of tributes off with a characteristically smooth rendition of “The Ballad of Dorothy Parker”. Bilal followed with a rousing, passionate performance of “The Good Ones”

Stevie Wonder and Tori Kelly performed “Take Me With You”right before Jennifer Hudson brought the house down with an emphatic and emotional performance of “Purple Rain”

In classic showman’s fashion Janelle Monáe did a thrilling, energetic medley of Prince hits that included “Delirious,” “Kiss,” “Pop Life,” and of course “I Would Die For You”

Maxwell slowed things down with “Lake By the Ocean,” the single off of his forthcoming album and a beautiful rendition of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U”

Finally, the night ended with an epic display of musicianship by The Purple One’s long-time collaborator and former love, Sheila E.
