A Glimpse of Solange’s Radiant Made In America Festival Performance

2017 Budweiser Made in America - Day 1

Despite Philly’s very rainy weather on Saturday, the sun angel illuminated Made In America Festival with a dance-inducing performance of fan favorites from “Losing You” to “T.O.N.Y.,” and of course all of A Seat at the Table‘s standouts. Our leading lady Solange, along with her band and vocal girl squad Franchelle and Isadora took the Rocky Stage by storm (mid-storm) without missing a beat, step or note. At times it seemed like the harder it rained, the brighter the glow of her red set design.

But this wasn’t just a show. During “Mad,” Solange expressed sincere thoughts on some of the angering conditions faced by Black people, the Islamic community and the LGBTQ community. For the mistreated lovers, she called out the “fuck bois” and for all of us, she shamed the Neo-nazi’s. But just like sunshine, the entire performance inspired joy from the ritualistic, crowd sing-along performance of The Proud Family theme song to her own twerk session during “F.U.B.U.” Check out some of the cloud-dispelling light Solange brought to Made In America Festival via the images below.
