Audio: Kenneth Whalum, “Might Not Be Ok” Feat. Big K.R.I.T.

Kenneth-William

Memphis’ quiet giant Kenneth Whalum returns with an honest outcry entitled “Might Not Be Ok.” Calling in Big K.R.I.T. with fiery, passionate bars, the duo’s harmonious balance create a perfectly haunting ballad. Ghostly coos and weeping piano keys make up the instrumentation behind the cadence of K.R.I.T.’s charging lyrics and Kenneth’s sweetly somber vocals.

With the rise in visibility of police brutality via social media, more and more artists have gifted their creative abilities to continue to bring awareness to racial injustice. “Might Not Be Ok” is beautiful in its directness, rage and pain, setting itself completely apart in its deliberate sobering hopelessness. Listen to the singer/musician/composer’s bright melancholy in “Might Not Be Ok” below.
