R&B/Soul’s vocal master Jazmine Sullivan is fed up with her man’s drama and she’s stepping up to call him out in the Bryson Tiller-assisted “Insecure.” Sullivan’s rapturously earth shattering voice paints the picture of a phase spent battling a lover’s lack of trust based solely on their own insecurities. Expressing frustration with her man’s smothering behavior, she warns that she’ll pursue an escape plan if he can’t neglect his groundless doubt and realize how good she is to him. Tiller melodically mansplains his side of the story in verse two before the track returns to Jazmine’s final warning to get it together. Flexing her unparalleled range for some extra sass, the singer even stretches out to dispatch some verse in a tuneful flow toward the track’s end.

According to Jazmine Sullivan’s latest Instagram post, she’s been a fan of Issa Rae‘s since the YouTube days and wrote this song for the writer/producer/director/actress’ HBO series of the same moniker. Listen to the very relatable “Insecure” below.
