Audio: Ari Lennox, “Whipped Cream”

Ari Lennox 1

Ari Lennox is back with her first single of 2018 and its emotionally saccharine energy is already sticking to our hearts as much as our headphones. “Whipped Cream” is a mid-tempo ode to an old love’s eclipsing infiltration of thoughts and daydreams. The DC-born songstress floats between honeyed nostalgia and complex realities singing “I wish I didn’t care,” over an irresistible bassline accented by an old-soul guitar refrain.

‘Whipped Cream’ is my little baby that expresses how I feel about an ex that I’m still not over. He’s the same n***a that I talked about in PHO,” Lennox explained. She also confirmed to Zane Lowe that her debut album is in the works.

As we patiently anticipate what’s next from Dreamville’s vocal powerhouse, listen to “Whipped Cream” below and revisit Saint Heron’s exclusive interview with Ari Lennox here.
